On July 2, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations met with Rossella Fabiani, a journalist of the "L'Osservatore Romano" newspaper, the official press agency of the Holy See.
The chairman of the State Committee told the guest about the measures implemented to protect and promote the environment of tolerance, which has become the priority direction of the state's religious policy under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He noted that in addition to ensuring the rights of various religious communities in Azerbaijan, which currently contribute to interreligious dialogue, special attention and care is given to them. This approach can be seen in relation to the restoration of historical and religious monuments of different religions and the international conferences organized in the relevant direction. During the meeting, Ramin Mammadov emphasized the support shown by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation headed by the First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva to the restoration of Christian and Jewish monuments, along with a number of mosques and shrines, and said that this is a manifestation of the importance given to human values.
Rossella Fabiani noted that this trip gave her a fuller impression of Azerbaijan, the rich religious and cultural heritage of our country, and especially gave ample opportunities to learn the history of Albanian Christian monuments. At the same time, the guest touched on the importance of the reconstruction and construction works carried out in Karabakh and East Zangezur and highly appreciated the successful implementation of the return process. He said that the atmosphere of coexistence and mutual trust in Azerbaijan, which he witnessed during his visit, is one of the rare examples in the world.
It should be noted that Rossella Fabiani visited Guba, Gabala, Oguz, Sheki, Aghdara, Khojavand, Kalbajar, Lachin regions, as well as the church, synagogue and the ancient Christian heritage of Azerbaijan in the framework of the visit organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Vatican, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the State Committee. visited the Albanian monuments. The guest got acquainted with the Albanian-Udi Christian community in Nic settlement of Gabala region, as well as the "Holy Mother Mary" and St. Elisey (Jotari) churches located in the settlement, and received detailed information about the Albanian Christian heritage.
