On March 7, the Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, Mr.Ramin Mammadov met with bishop Alexiy, the Head of the Baku and Azerbaijan Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Chairman Mammadov emphasized that the tolerant environment and culture of coexistence in Azerbaijan continue to be strengthened in accordance with the state-religion concept. He discussed the continuation of the traditions established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the high level of attention and care given to religious communities, and the measures taken to preserve their spiritual heritage, as well as the policies implemented by President Ilham Aliyev in this regard. The Chairman noted that financial assistance is regularly provided to support religious communities and emphasized that strengthening traditions of tolerance remains a key priority for the state.
Bishop Alexiy praised Azerbaijan’s role in promoting interfaith dialogue, tolerance, and multicultural values, and expressed appreciation for the state’s attention to religious communities.
