On May 27, the Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, Ramin Mammadov, met with members of the Quorum of the Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The meeting featured an exchange of views on preserving religious diversity and promoting inter-community dialogue. Chairman Mammadov informed the guests about Azerbaijan’s interfaith harmony and traditions of coexistence, emphasizing that protecting progressive religious values, ensuring freedom of conscience and belief, and fostering solidarity among religious communities are key state priorities. He noted that all places of worship belonging to different confessions are constructed, renovated, and maintained, with the state providing annual financial support to religious communities. The long-standing multicultural and tolerant traditions of Azerbaijani society are actively supported by the state, making Azerbaijan one of the leading examples in this field.
J. Gerard, a member of the General Authority Seventy, positively assessed Azerbaijan’s dedicated efforts to maintain unity and solidarity, emphasizing that the relationships between the state and religious communities are developing along an upward trajectory. He noted that tolerance among different religious confessions is historically preserved and continually strengthened.
