Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, as part of his visit to the United States participated in a meeting organized by the Stirling Foundation, operating under the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for government representatives, experts of scientific research institutes, heads of religious communities and civil society organizations.
During the meeting, Ramin Mammadov spoke about the healthy religious environment and the exemplary tradition of coexistence in Azerbaijan, and touched on the large-scale measures implemented in this field under the leadership of President Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the protection of tolerant and multicultural values, and the work done in the direction of ensuring freedom of religion. He said that everyone has equal rights in our country regardless of religion and nationality. In our country, special attention is paid to the construction of religious places of worship, protection and restoration of religious monuments. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, headed by the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mrs.Mehriban Aliyeva, implements major projects in the direction of strengthening this unique environment of tolerance and development of human values.
The participants of the meeting expressed their satisfaction with the care provided to representatives of all religious denominations in Azerbaijan, as well as with the work done in the direction of the development of interreligious and intercultural dialogue. They emphasized that they support initiatives that serve to strengthen mutual relations.
At the same time, preparations for the summit of religious leaders to be held within the framework of COP29 hosted by Azerbaijan this year were discussed and opinions were exchanged about the importance of the event.
Jonathan Ammons, Justin Harding, directors of Interreligious and international relations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints operating in the state of Utah, USA, Salman Massoud, head of the Muslim Community Center, Leul Mengistu, head of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church community, Muhammadolim Mukhamadsidikov, rector of the Tashkent Islamic Institute named after Imam al-Bukhari, Shovosil Ziyodov Director of Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center attended the meeting.
