The delegation led by Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations visited the Romanian Orthodox Patriarchal Church during their official visit to Romania.
Subsequently, the delegation met with Varlaam Ploiești, Deputy Patriarch of Romania, who expressed his satisfaction at receiving the Azerbaijani delegation.
In acknowledging the friendly and cooperative relations between Romania and Azerbaijan, Varlaam PloieČ™ti highly praised Azerbaijan’s initiatives aimed at fostering interreligious and intercultural dialogue, noting that Azerbaijan is recognized as a center of multiculturalism where religious and ethnic conflicts have never occurred.
Chairman Ramin Mammadov spoke about Azerbaijan’s exemplary state–religion relations, interfaith harmony, and accomplishments in peaceful coexistence. He emphasized that the legal framework established in Azerbaijan to protect progressive religious values, ensure freedom of conscience and religion, and strengthen solidarity among different confessions forms the legal and political foundation of interfaith dialogue. Ramin Mammadov noted that Azerbaijan’s religious policy is implemented in accordance with democratic, legal, and secular state principles, as well as international norms.
The meeting was also attended by Viorel Coman, Advisor to the Patriarch for Foreign Affairs.
