The delegation led by Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, attended an iftar ceremony organized by the Romanian Muslim Muftiate during their visit to Romania.
The event was attended by Mufti of the Romanian Muslim community Murat Yusuf, Romania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Emil Hurezeanu, State Advisor to the Presidential Administration Cătălina Galer, Spokesperson of the Prime Minister Andrea Ungar, State Secretary for Religious Affairs Ciprian Vasile Olinici, as well as representatives of state and government institutions, Muslim organizations, and academic and cultural circles.
In his address at the iftar table, Chairman Mammadov expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality and voiced confidence that the visit’s outcomes would contribute to the development of bilateral relations and further strengthen bonds of friendship, unity, and solidarity based on shared values. He emphasized that, at a time when nationalism and isolationist tendencies are spreading globally, the attention shown to the Muslim community in Romania serves a commendable example of peaceful coexistence in Eastern Europe.
Stressing the growing need to draw on the experience of countries with rich traditions of tolerance and coexistence in promoting intercultural and interfaith dialogue, Ramin Mammadov highlighted Azerbaijan’s model in this regard. He noted that although religion is separated from the state in Azerbaijan, strong and constructive relations exist between them. President Ilham Aliyev approaches religious matters with particular sensitivity, allocating annual financial support from the state budget to both Islamic and non-Islamic religious communities and focusing on the construction and restoration of places of worship.
Chairman Mammadov further emphasized that following the 44-day Patriotic War, Azerbaijan’s religious and historical monuments in Karabakh are being restored with the direct attention and care of the President and First Vice-President Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva. Azerbaijan actively participates in the development of interfaith dialogue through initiatives such as the Intercultural Dialogue Forums, World Summit of Religious Leaders, and the Baku International Humanitarian Forums, which are integral components of the “Baku Process.”
Concluding his speech, Chairman Ramin Mammadov congratulated the members of the Romanian Muslim community on the holy month of Ramadan and wished peace and prosperity to the world.
