On March 11, the delegation led by Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, met with Igdır governor Ercan Turan during their visit to Türkiye.

Governor Turan emphasized the significance of the highest-level development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye across all spheres, noting that reciprocal visits contribute to broadening the scope of cooperation between the two brotherly countries. He highlighted the recently inaugurated Igdır – Nakhchivan natural gas pipeline as an example of the upward trajectory of relations at all levels.

Chairman Mammadov expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality and emphasized that the historically close relations described by National Leader Heydar Aliyev as “one nation, two states” have reached a higher level today due to the purposeful policies of both countries’ leaderships.

Regarding Azerbaijan’s religious environment, Ramin Mammadov stated that adherence to national and spiritual values, as well as tolerance towards followers of other religions form the foundation of Azerbaijani society. He emphasized that preserving this harmony and strengthening interfaith and sectarian unity in line with modern requirements is a key task for the state today. The meeting also addressed the care and attention afforded to compatriots residing in Igdır and views were exchanged on other mutually relevant issues.
