On July 17, Sahib Nagiyev, the deputy chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, met with Bill Jones, the president of "Columbia International University".
During the meeting, the guest was informed about exemplary state-religion relations in Azerbaijan, freedom of conscience established in the Constitution, interreligious harmony, mutual respect and trust-based cooperation between different religious denominations.
The guest emphasized that the friendly living of representatives of religious confessions in Azerbaijan, the attention shown to non-Muslim communities, including the "Alov" Christian religious community, the restoration and repair of mosques, sanctuaries, Jewish and Christian temples are indicators that reflect the realities of Azerbaijan and the environment of tolerance.
At the meeting, views were exchanged on the importance of strengthening the relations of the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, which operates under the Committee, with higher education institutions of foreign countries, implementation of joint projects within the framework of bilateral cooperation, study of international experience in the field of science and education, and other issues.
