On September 4, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, met with Erich Alfred Thilo Braun, Chairman of the Board of the German Foundation for Fundamental Values and International Understanding, and the Foundation’s Executive Director Folker Brecht.
Chairman Mammadov provided detailed information about state-religion relations, religious tolerance, and multiculturalism in Azerbaijan. He noted that under President Ilham Aliyev’s leadership, state policy is based on traditions of multiculturalism and tolerance. He emphasized that religious communities receive consistent support, and experiences of coexistence and multicultural values are preserved. It was emphasized that financial assistance is consistently provided to religious institutions to support their activities.
Chairman also highlighted that tolerance plays a key role in preventing racism and discrimination, stressing that Azerbaijan serves as a unique example of interfaith harmony. The attention given to the heritage of Christian Germans reflects the state’s commitment to multicultural policy.
The representatives of the German Foundation praised the support for religious diversity and interfaith harmony in Azerbaijan and stressed the importance of expanding cooperation between Germany and Azerbaijan in this area. Several issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
