The delegation led by Gunduz Ismayilov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, paid an official visit to Türkiye, met on December 29 in Istanbul with Salahaddin Ozgunduz, leader of the Jafarite community of Türkiye.
During the meeting, discussions were focused on the existing religious and spiritual cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, as well as joint projects implemented in this field. Information was exchanged regarding measures taken in both countries to ensure freedom of religion and to preserve tolerance and multicultural values.
Gunduz Ismayilov highlighted the attention and support provided by the Azerbaijani state to the religious sphere and the efforts undertaken to foster healthy relations among religious communities. G.Ismayilov emphasized that Azerbaijani–Turkish brotherhood is also strongly reflected in the religious and spiritual domain.
Salahaddin Ozgunduz shared his insights on the activities of the Jafarite community in Türkiye and on initiatives aimed at religious education. He underlined the importance of further developing cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the religious sphere.
The meeting also included discussions on proposals to expand cooperation, implement joint projects, and further strengthen bilateral ties.
