Mubariz Gurbanli met with UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Azerbaijan Ghulam Isaczai

On November 12, Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations (SCRA) Mubariz Gurbanli met with Ghulam Isaczai, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Azerbaijan.
M. Gurbanli gave detailed information on the model of state-religion relations and religious situation modern, state-religion policy in Azerbaijan which was laid by great leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. He noted that tolerance and multiculturalism have very strong foundation, rich historical traditions in our country and these traditions have been developed by the state.
Speaking about the important measures taken on human rights, their protection, especially women's rights in the world, chairman also noted that Azerbaijan has been working hard in this direction, especially in the area of women's rights protection. Mr. Gurbanlı spoke about the important steps taken by the state in order to protect gender equality, the implementation of state-directed policies towards women in the country. The Chairman of the Committee spoke about the value of women and their rights in Islam. With regards to issues relevant for the protection of women and gender equality, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs is taking comprehensive measures. The State Committee of the Religious Associations, the Caucasus Muslims Board and the Moral Values Promotion Fund, under to the SCRA, are participating in these events.
Expressing for his gratitude for warm welcoming to Chairman, Mr. Ghulam Isaczai said that the geographical location of Azerbaijan between the East and the West is important. Its geographical position is a good indication of how it can fill the gap between the two parts of the world in order to eliminate intolerance, extremism, radicalism, and many other negative manifestations. He also noted that as Azerbaijan’s contribution to intercultural and interreligious dialogue and multiculturalism, it also takes important steps to protect human rights and freedoms, in particular promoting gender equality and preventing violence against women.
