The Chairman of the State Committee met Indonesian ambassador
On November 4, Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations (SCRA) Mubariz Gurbanli met Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Azerbaijan Hildi Hamid.
Providing the guest with the detailed information about the state-religion relations during the meeting, Mubariz Gurbanli noted that the country with the strong tradition of tolerance has become one of the centers of multiculturalism worldwide. Existing state-religion model of Azerbaijan also promotes understanding amongst religious denominations, representatives of all religions in Azerbaijan preserve their material and spiritual values, the Chairman has expressed. The Chairman has emphasized that by the President Ilham Aliyev’s order, the state allocates financial assistance aimed at supporting awareness campaigns of religious denominations and attaches great importance to the promotion of interreligious dialogue at all levels. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation headed by the First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva spares no efforts in the direction of preserving our historical and religious sites and builds new religious temples.
The Providing the Ambassador with the detailed information about the historical victory of Azerbaijan in the 44-day Patriotic War last year, the Chairman of the State Committee has said that construction works have already launched, projects are being implemented aimed at restoring examples of our material, cultural and religious heritage subjected to Armenian vandalism.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and detailed information, the Ambassador drew attention to Azerbaijan's calls for solidarity and policy of tolerance. He has noted that they are interested in studying the experience of our country in regulating interreligious relations.
Touching the importance of the liberation of Azerbaijani territories from the Armenian occupation, Ambassador Hildi Hamid said that he visited the liberated territories as a member of diplomatic missions and saw the atrocities committed during the Armenian occupation. Indonesia, a Muslim country always defends the just position of Azerbaijan on all international platforms, the Ambassador has emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, the sides have exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest. Books were presented books published by the SCRA.
