On December 6, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, met with the head of the American Center for Religious Freedom, as well as the founding executive director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center in the United States, Janna Scott.
Emphasizing that the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev pays special attention to the development of tolerance traditions and multicultural values, the Chairman of the Committee said that the state-religion relations in our country are based on solid foundations. He noted that the coexistence of people belonging to different cultures and feeling themselves as a part of social life helps to make the society more inclusive and dynamic. Ramin Mammadov said that our country attaches special importance to this principle. Multiculturalism, accepted as a way of life by society in Azerbaijan, promotion of interreligious harmony is a priority direction of state policy.
The guest was informed about the works and implemented projects in the field of tolerance in Azerbaijan.
Janna Scott said that the main goal of developing intercultural relations in various aspects at the local and global level is to establish positive relations between different cultures, strengthen social relations and expand the understanding of human rights. He positively evaluated the work done in the direction of promoting the harmonious and peaceful living of members of different cultures and religions in Azerbaijan, as a progressive model of the multiculturalism environment of our country.
Future projects were discussed at the meeting.
