“Unity is in our blood” first film exhibition was held in Baku International Multiculturalism Centre

The Baku International Multiculturalism Centre hosted the first exhibition of the documentary film "Unity is in our blood" made to order of the State Committee on Religious Associations (SCRA) on November 29. The film “Unity is in our blood” calls for cooperation among different Islamic denominations. The film's advisers are chairman deputies and experts of the SCRA. Propaganda and broadcasting of this film will contribute to religious enlightenment in Azerbaijan. The film shows interfaith unity and brotherhood in Azerbaijan.

Mubariz Gurbanli, Chairman of the SCRA said that some steps have been taken in order to achieve unity in Islam. Speaking about call for unity (ittihad) in the Islamic religion, the chairman of the Committee said that this issue still remains relevant. Steps were taken in this direction as a Muslim country in Azerbaijan as well. The policy of unity is one of the most important issues in the state-religion model of our country. Unity prayers are made in our country. The Caucasus Muslims Office also gives advice to religious leaders working in mosques to perform unity prayer more profoundly.

Member of the Azerbaijani Parliament, chairman of the Russian community of Azerbaijan Mikhail Zabelin highly appreciated the film. He said that if the film had been shown in other Muslim countries, the number of the conflicts had also diminished. There has never been interfaith confrontation between representatives of different religions in Azerbaijan. There is always a multicultural environment in our country. By the example of Azerbaijan it can be shown that both Sunnis and Shiites can live in peace.
