Memorandum was signed on cooperation in the field of religion between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan

On October 27, a meeting was held between the State Committee on Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCRA) and Committee on Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the format of a videoconference.

The Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Nukezhanov has stressed that Azerbaijan is an important partner for his country and spoken about the historical roots of the relationship between the two countries and our common values. Expressing the importance of maintaining close relations in the cultural and religious spheres, Yerzhan Nukezhanov provided detailed information on religious environment in Kazakhstan. His country has created a legal and social framework for the advancement of various cultures and faiths, implements large-scale measures tackling religious radicalism, Nukezhanov has underlined.

The Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations Mubariz Gurbanli has said that today, Presidents of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan Ilham Aliyev and Kasim-Jomart Tokayev successfully implement the policy of friendly relations founded by the leaders of the two nations Heydar Aliyev and Nursultan Nazarbayev. Providing information about the state-religion relations, tolerant and multicultural environment in our country, Mubariz Gurbanli has noted that the state's attention and care for the religions has always considered a priority. The Chairman also touched the activities of the State Committee, work done to combat radical elements that attempting to exploit religious faiths and beliefs of the people. The Chairman of the committee also stressed the importance of restoring Azerbaijan's historical justice and territorial integrity amid 44-day war, noted the facts of Armenian vandalism.

In the end, Memorandum was signed between the State Committee on Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCRA) and Committee on Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Provisions, such as organizing conferences, round tables and other similar events on issues of mutual interest, carrying out awareness campaign activities aimed at preventing the spread of harmful religious ideology and manifestations of religious extremism, supporting cooperation between religious educational institutions are listed in the Memorandum that signed between the parties on strengthening cooperation and exchanging experience in the field of religion.
