Azerbaijan was represented at the international conference on global peace and security held in Washington D.C. USA

International Conference held on "Interfaith harmony for global peace and security" in Washington DC, USA

The conference was held with the joint organizational support by the International Center for Law and Religious Studies under Brigham Young University, the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, USA, the State Committee on Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCRA) and Baku International Multiculturalism Centre in Washington D.C. USA, AZERTAC reports. Representatives from think tanks, various religious institutions, foundations and diplomatic corps attended the conference.

Abraham Cooper, Vice Chairman of the Simon Wiesenthal, Rabbi Marc Schneier, President of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, USA, Art Wilson, Goodwill Ambassador and Special Envoy on Peace and Development for the World Associations of the United Nations Interns and Fellows, Hasan Murat Mercan the Ambassador of Turkiye to the USA,  Rabbi Ephraim Hasenfeld, President of Vaad L’Hatzolas Nidchei Yisroel organization, Professor, Dr. Hafiz Ahmet Salih Bayraktar, Director of Diyanet Center of America, Robert A. Destro, Professor of Law at The Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law in Washington, Sahib Nagiyev, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of Baku International Multiculturalism Center and other participants made speeched at the conference held in Catholic University of America. The speakers expressed their opinion on the subject “Interreligious Harmony for Sustainable Development and Peace: Majority minority conception through a religious perspective” and “The role of interfaith dialogue in the protection of multicultural and religious security”.

The conference concluded with the closing remarks by Sayavush Heydarov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Khazar Ibrahim, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States of America
