A memorandum on cooperation was signed between the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology (AIT) under the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations and Brigham Young University of the United States.
The document was signed by Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, and Scott Miller, Dean of Brigham Young University.
The clauses of the memorandum envisage conducting scientific-research works based on mutually beneficial cooperation between the faculties and departments of both higher educational institutions, and implementing joint projects promoting multiculturalism. At the same time, in order to inform the faculty and students about the history and culture of both countries, the organization of events, the implementation of mutual academic visits, the exchange of experience in the field of learning religions and foreign languages, and other issues were reflected.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, which was established according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated February 9, 2018, is currently the only higher religious educational institution in the country that accepts students in the fields of Islamic Studies and Religious Studies. At AIT, education is also provided at the master's and doctoral level. Education at the institute is carried out at the expense of the state. The goal of the higher educational institution is to take advantage of the experience of the leading universities of the world, to exchange students, including the expansion of relations between higher education institutions, in order to establish education at the level of modern requirements.
