Chairman of the Committee met with representatives of the World Baptist Alliance
Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations (SCRA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mubariz Gurbanli met with representatives of the World Baptist Alliance.
During the meeting, the chairman of SCRA provided detailed information on religious situation, the activities of religious communities, the state's care for religion, as well as the promotion of tolerant and multicultural values inAzerbaijan.
Mubariz Gurbanli mentioned that the stability of multicultural relations in Azerbaijan and its current development stem directly from the state support and the exemplary state-religion relations established by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev are successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.
The state's religious policy is aimed at protecting freedom of religion, creating equal opportunities for all religious communities in the country and strengthening the centuries-old traditions of tolerance, as well as the national and moral values of our people.
The chairman of the committee stressed that the stability of the religious situation in the country, the high level of tolerance, the absence of any discrimination among citizens on religious beliefs create favorable conditions for the activities of non-Islamic religious organizations.
Committee's official noted that 35 non-Islamic religious organizations have been registered in Azerbaijan and financial support from the state budget has become a tradition along with Islamic-oriented religious communities.
During the conversation, Mubariz Gurbanli informed the guests about Armenia's policy of aggression and occupation against Azerbaijan, drew attention to the crimes committed against our historical monuments in violation of all international conventions.
Delegation of the Permanent Representative of the United Nations in Geneva on behalf of the World Baptist Alliance R. Schein Mcnery .expressed that among the religious coffessions in our country are based on the deep respect for their religious belief and moral values and he stressed his admiration of the exemplary atmosphere of tolerance and multiculturalism in Azerbaijan.
He noted that international society and secular states should accept this approach as an exemplary model.
At the end of the exchange of views on a number of issues of mutual interest, the guests were presented books published in English by the SCRA on the religious tolerant environment and the Armenian vandalism against our cultural heritage.
