The Chairman of the Committee received journalists from Argentina and Uruguay
Mubariz Gurbanli, Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations (SCRA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan received journalists, Khalid Hallar (Argentina) and Susana Mangana (Uruguay) on July 23.
Chairman of State Committee gave journalists detailed information regarding with the religious situation and activities carried out by the SCRA. Noted that, 942 religious associations have been registered in Azerbaijan and 907 of them are Islamic and 35 are non-Islamic. The majority of the population are Muslims, various religious confessions have been functioning independently and in the context of mutual understanding for centuries. Representatives from religious confessions have an opportunity to preserve their material and spiritual culture, language and historical memory in Azerbaijan, he added. Speaking about the activities by the religious confessions, Mr. Gurbanli expressed that Azerbaijan state constantly provides financial support to all religious communities, including non-Islamic communities.
Mr. Qurbanli answered the questions addressed by the journalists regarding with the model of religious tolerance in Azerbaijan, unit prayer that is welcomed by the international community and actions carried out aiming at preventing radicalism.
The journalists expressed their gratitude for the warm welcoming and said that during their visits to Azerbaijan, they witnessed dynamic development and the existence of a high level multicultural environment.
The guests were presented books published in English by the SCRA about the environment of religious tolerance and armenian vandalism against material cultural heritage of Azerbaijan at the end of the meeting.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Argentina to Azerbaijan Sergio Osvaldo Perez Gunella participated at the meeting as well.
