Commemoration ceremonies were held in places of worship

On the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy, religious communities across Azerbaijan organized a series of memorial events.

In places of worship belonging to various religious confessions, the memory of the victims was honored with respect, and calls for peace and the inviolability of human life were made during the ceremonies.

As part of the commemorations held on February 26, religious services were conducted at the Russian Orthodox Church of the Baku and Azerbaijan Eparchy, in Sephardic and European Jewish synagogues, as well as within the Baku Krishna Consciousness and Baptist “Agape” communities.

During the events, the gravity of the tragedy was emphasized, and the heinous crimes committed against civilians were condemned. It was stressed that researching historical facts, presenting the events objectively to the international community, and securing recognition of the tragedy at the global level should be regarded as a moral duty.

It was also noted that religious diversity and an atmosphere of mutual trust in Azerbaijan contribute to strengthening national solidarity. The unified stance of communities belonging to different confessions on critical issues demonstrates that society is grounded in high moral values and clearly committed to universal human principles.
