A group of religious leaders from the United States visited the State Committee
On October 28, The Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations (SCRA) Mubariz Gurbanli met with a group of leaders of Islamic, Christian and Jewish religious communities from the United States.
Welcoming the guests, the Chairman of the State Committee recalled the meetings held during his visit to the United States and spoke about the significance of mutual relations. The Chairman has emphasized that today's delegation staff includes eminent figures of Christianity, Islam and Judaism, which looks like inter-religious harmony in Azerbaijan.
A deep respect for each other's religious beliefs and moral values stands at the foundation of the relations amongst religious denominations and Azerbaijan absolutely preserves the principle of the equality of the state with regard to religious denominations. Any person can see this principle visually in the consistent measures taken to support the activities of religious communities in the country, Mr. Gurbanli has expressed.
Drawing attention to our glorious victory in the Patriotic War under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Chairman underlined the vandalism acts of the aggressor Armenian state in our liberated territories, destruction of centuries-old historical and religious sites of our people and the falsification of churches belonging to Caucasian Albania.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, the leaders of the religious communities have noted that they appreciate the atmosphere of tolerance and religious diversity that they have witnessed during their visits. They have visited various religious places of worship in Azerbaijan as well as cities of Agdam, Shusha and Ganja and inclusion has been among the priorities of the state and our people.
Leaders of religious communities highly appreciated the attention and care shown to non-Islamic religious communities in our country as the best example of tolerance. They said they had watched the unity prayer at the Heydar Mosque with admiration and that Azerbaijan continues to be a good example in terms of inter-religious harmony.
At the end, the books that published by the SCRA in English were presented to the guests.
