A conference on combating anti-Semitism in the region of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) was held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, 6-7 February 2023. The head of Foreign Relations Department Ali Haziyev represented State Committee on Religious Associations as a part of the Azerbaijani delegation to the conference.
OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, Director of the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODHIR) Matteo Mecacci, The High Commissioner for National Minorities of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Kairat Abdurakhmanov, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Rabbi Andrew Baker, in a video format OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Teresa Ribeiro and Special Representative on Anti-Semitism, Racism, and Intolerance for the 57-nation Organization Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Parliamentary Assembly, senator Ben Cardin made a speech at the opening ceremony of the conference with three sessions.
The sessions were held in discussion format titled “Focusing efforts to combat anti-Semitism in the OSCE region”, “Modern manifestations of anti-Semitism: new challenges and their effective solutions”, and “Vision for the future: eliminating anti-Semitism in the era of artificial intelligence”.
Representative of the State Committee has actively involved in panel discussions with representatives and experts of institutions acting in the field of anti-Semitism from several countries in the OSCE region, including the USA. Delegations of participating countries, including Azerbaijan, made a statement at the closing session of the conference. Counselor of Baku International Multiculturalism Center Aytan Gahraman announced the statement of the Azerbaijani side.
