The Forum of Religious Leaders of Azerbaijan continues its work with parallel panel sessions on the topic "Actual issues of religious education: tradition, experience and perspectives".
Fazil Mustafa, Chairman of the Public Unions and Religious Organizations Committee of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, moderated the first panel on "Religious threats in the secular state: political-ideological view", first deputy chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Department, mufti Haji Salman Musayev, gave a speech. He said that clerics should pay more attention to the correct presentation of the spiritual and ethical values of Islam, and the promotion of peace and tolerance. Because religious figures play an important role in the development of high level of spirituality and values in the society, in promoting unity and brotherhood between Muslims, who make up the main part of the country's population, and members of other religions.
Sharing his views on the subject, Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Doctor of Philosophy in Law, Muhammad Guluzade, said that the institution he represents is taking measures in the relevant direction with the legal institutions. Speaking about the traditions of tolerance prevailing in our country, M. Guluzade said that the state-religion model implemented by Azerbaijan is based on secularism, tolerance and multicultural values.
Parviz Safarov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, informed about the measures implemented by the institution he represents for the purpose of repatriation and social rehabilitation of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who migrated abroad in different periods and returned to the country facing difficult life conditions. He said that since 2018, a large number of citizens from the Islamic Republics of Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan have been repatriated to our country, and the state has provided them with all kinds of assistance.
The dean of the Faculty of Journalism of Baku State University, doctor of philological sciences Vugar Zifaroglu, who gave a presentation entitled "The main manipulative directions and media in religious matters", drew attention to the main propaganda tools used by radical religious trends. He said that in addition to mass media, print and multimedia products, social networks also act as propaganda platforms in modern times. Creating fear and mistrust among the public by gaining access to large masses is the main goal of radical religious movements using the media as a propaganda tool.
Head of the Department of Religious Studies of the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor Anar Gafarov delivered a report and said that if the big states and international corporations are unable to guide the countries they have chosen as targets with economic sanctions and pressures, they turn religion into a tool of their policies and take advantage of it. In states and societies subjected to such pressures, religion is viewed as a matter of national, social, and even ideological security
The II panel session was moderated by Aynur Sofiyeva, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children's Problems of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Hijran Huseynova, chairman of the Committee on Family, Women's and Children's Affairs of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, made a speech at the session on "The Role of the Religious Factor in the Implementation of Women's Rights". He emphasized that in addition to the great successes achieved in the field of ensuring women's rights in Azerbaijan, a number of problems remain relevant. He noted that work should be done to solve early marriage, discrimination against women, domestic violence and other problems. He said that the activity of religious figures is especially important in ensuring the effectiveness of proper education in this direction.
Indira Hajiyeva, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said that our country historically had a special approach to the issue of women. Determining the main principles of women's policy and raising them to the state level is related to the name of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. Our national and moral values, formed over thousands of years, are a rich and boundless treasure for us to become perfect human beings, to make the necessary contribution to our state and humanity, and are the most reliable shield to protect our national identity in the globalized world.
State Support Director of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan Aygun Aliyeva said that the identity and culture of the national and spiritual values are the moral supports that ensure the unity and solidarity of society. He said that one of the main issues in religion should be analyzed that these rights were announced in the historical situation to properly explain the essence of women's rights. Islam has changed the society in which it is not only religious, but also in terms of ensuring human rights. E. Azizova added that the progressive principles of Islam in Azerbaijan in Azerbaijan should be focused by the Society, especially the religious figures.
