Armenian side and its patrons continue defamation campaign against our country by spreading false information despite Azerbaijan's equal approach to the rights of religious minorities and various religious monuments, in general, compliance with obligations under international law.
Mubariz Gurbanli, the Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Association (SCRA) has said in his article published at https: // nex24.news, the digital platform of the Turkish TRT Media in Germany.
According to the article, BBC News published news regarding with the "disappearance of the Armenian Church" in the Jabrayil district of Azerbaijan on March 25, 2021.
The claims by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the Armenian National Commission for UNESCO that Azerbaijan has committed "cultural crime" are unacceptable. The claim of the "disappearance" of the church in Jabrayil district should be concluded by taking in the context of the conflict.
By proving the allegations with the evidences that they are false, the author drew into attention that the "temple" was built illegally on the ruins of monuments that belong to Azerbaijanis five years ago, during the period when Armenia kept the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan under occupation for nearly 30 years. Even the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group at the time said that the "temple" in Jabrayil was built for Armenian soldiers as part of a military unit, and Azerbaijan protested at the state level. From this point of view, the building that illegally built by the occupying separatists for personal purposes 5 years ago by no means cannot be considered a historical and cultural monument.
The Patriotic War, which ended with the glorious victory of the Azerbaijani army led to full revealing of vandalism and terror against historical and religious monuments committed by Armenia, underlined in the article.
Armenian side is trying to divert the attention of the world community from the key issue - the crimes committed during the occupation by spreading inexhaustible disinformation such as "Mythical Hydro". The aim is to prevent visits of the representatives from different countries and organizations to those areas, works that have been carrying out in the international level by Azerbaijan to expose the essence of Armenian fascism and war crimes, underlined in the article. From this point of view, the noise by Armenian side around the "temple" can not be considered accidental.
Touching upon the policy of erasure and appropriation of the cultural heritage of the historical and ancient lands of Azerbaijan by our enemies, the Chairman of the Committee said that Armenians destroyed five historical mosques, about fifty shrines and dozens of historical architectural monuments in Jabrayil and there was no church in the territory of the district at all.
The article also contains extensive information about the care for the religious and spiritual environment in Azerbaijan. The country which has deliberately targeted Azerbaijani cultural heritage, appropriated it, vandalized not only Islamic but also Christian monuments in the occupied territories, committed numerous war crimes and its Patrons who have closed their eyes to these criminal acts have no legal or moral rights to make accusations against Azerbaijan, emphasized in the article.
