Chairman of the State Committee delivered speech at International Conference in Uzbekistan

On April 30, Ramin Mammadov delivered a speech at the opening of the Samarkand conference. The event was moderated by Vice-President of the Uzbek Academy of Sciences Bahrom Abduhalimov and included addresses from Sheikh Usama Al-Azhari, Sodik Toshboyev, Mohamed Abdulsalam, Sheikh Nuriddin Kholiqnazar, and Abdelilah Benarafa, with a message from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In his speech, Chairman Mammadov emphasized that promoting coexistence, tolerance, solidarity, and multiculturalism is essential for sustainable peace and security amid emerging global challenges. He highlighted initiatives to preserve national and spiritual values and accurately conveying the essence of Islam to future generations, noting their contributions to both national heritage and the broader academic discourse. He stressed the importance of rational Islamic thought in objectively analyzing the relationship between faith and reason, addressing misconceptions, and countering unfounded criticisms of religion.

Ramin Mammadov also underlined the efforts of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, through the Organization of Turkic States, to protect shared heritage and values, as well as their joint initiatives to promote peace, stability, and counter extremism. He pointed out Azerbaijan’s dedication to preserving Islamic values and fostering interfaith dialogue, mentioning international initiatives such as global intercultural dialogue forums and the Global Summit of Religious Leaders held in Baku.

Furthermore, he noted the role of the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, established under the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations by presidential decree, in training highly qualified theologians in Islam and other world religions, contributing to strengthening state-religion relations and preserving national and spiritual values. Chairman of the Committee expressed confidence that the conference would serve as a vital platform for conveying the true essence of Islam to the international community and promoting global peace and interfaith dialogue.
