Chairman met with a member of the “Quorum of the Twelve Apostles” of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Within the framework of his visit to the United States, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, met with David Bednar, a member of the “Quorum of the Twelve Apostles” of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
During the meeting, Chairman Mammadov emphasized that, in line with the policies established by President Ilham Aliyev, religious communities in Azerbaijan continue to receive both financial and spiritual support. The restoration of mosques and churches in territories liberated from occupation showcases Azerbaijan’s exemplary approach to state–religion relations. The policy of cooperation with religious organizations aims to foster mutual understanding, solidarity, and moral values in society. Highlighting the successful activities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Azerbaijan, Ramin Mammadov invited the participants to the forthcoming inauguration ceremony of the church.
David Bednar acknowledged Azerbaijan’s role in peacebuilding and interreligious dialogue, commending the country’s commitment to allowing adherents of both traditional religions and their various denominations to worship freely. He noted that the state’s approach to religious communities, the careful restoration of historical and religious monuments, and the organization of international conferences on interfaith dialogue demonstrate Azerbaijan’s dedication to tolerance.
The meeting, which was also attended by Jack Gerard, a member of the Church’s General Authority Seventy, included discussions on cooperation prospects and the promotion of Azerbaijan’s traditions of multiculturalism and tolerance on international platforms.
