The Chairman of the State Committee participated in the 11th plenary session of the Parliament of International Tolerance and Peace
On November 24, the opening ceremony of the 11th plenary session of the International Tolerance and Peace Parliament (ITPP) on the theme "Peace, Reconciliation and Tolerance" was held, which was jointly hosted by the Parliament of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Global Tolerance and Peace Council (GTPC). Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, spoke at the opening ceremony.
In his speech, Chairman of the State Committee said that the deepening crisis in the modern world has revealed problems that pose serious threats to the existence of humanity, and that there are threats to international peace and security. At the same time, he pointed out that dangerous manifestations such as ideological struggle, ethnic-religious conflicts and polarization, racial discrimination, religious extremism, and xenophobia threaten the peace of mankind.
The Chairman of the Committee also emphasized that promoting the value of tolerance and the culture of peace is one of the important factors in the fight against discrimination and extremism. Ramin Mammadov noted that coexistence, which has deep historical roots and has developed to this day and has become a daily lifestyle of the society, forms the social basis of multiculturalism as a state policy in Azerbaijan. On the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan hosted a number of prestigious events on global issues, international forums dedicated to interreligious dialogue and multiculturalism. Prestigious events such as the traditional World Intercultural Dialogue Forum, International Humanitarian Forum, Summit of World Religious Leaders held in Baku play an important role in the development of intercultural dialogue.
In his speech, the Chairman of the State Committee also informed about the Global Summit of Religious Leaders held under the slogan "World religions for a green planet" within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). He said that through the summit, the calls of influential religious leaders will play an important role in solving global problems such as climate change, pollution of the atmosphere and environment, food shortages, and so on.
Ramin Mammadov expressed confidence that the 11th Plenary session of the International Parliament of Tolerance and Peace will achieve the goals set for a stable and sustainable future.
Within the session, Chairman of the State Committee met with the President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, former Prime Minister Hun Sen. At the meeting, R. Mammadov spoke about the environment of dialogue and centuries-old traditions of tolerance in our country and informed about the measures implemented in the field of protection of multicultural values under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Hun Sen, noted that Azerbaijan has a tolerant image in the world and is recognized as one of the leading centers in the process of intercultural dialogue. It was emphasized that the cooperation relations between the two countries are developing in various directions.
