Chairman of the Committee met with German Bundestag representatives
On June 24, the delegation led by Ramin Mammadov met with Armin Laschet, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag.
The meeting focused on interfaith dialogue and the promotion of traditions of peaceful coexistence. The importance of expanding cooperation in this field between Azerbaijan and Germany was emphasized.
Chairman Mammadov provided detailed information about state support for religious communities, the projects implemented in Azerbaijan, and the role of tolerance traditions in preventing racism and discrimination. He highlighted Azerbaijan’s unique model of interfaith harmony and its attention to the German-Christian heritage in the country.
Armin Laschet recalled his visit to Azerbaijan, noting that all religious communities in the country coexist as one family. He praised the care for German heritage in Azerbaijan and recognized the country as a leading example of multicultural coexistence.
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Germany, Nasimi Agayev, detailed the purpose of the visit, emphasizing that strong political relations enable cooperation across all fields. He highlighted Azerbaijan as a place where various religious communities coexist in mutual understanding.
Rabbi Abraham Kuper, Deputy Chair of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, underscored the significance of interfaith and intercultural dialogue and stressed the importance of strengthening mutual collaboration to promote religious tolerance.
