Chairman of the State Committee met with the President of the Utah Senate in the United States
Within the framework of his visit to the United States, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, held a meeting with Stuart Adams, President of the Utah Senate.
The meeting emphasized that Azerbaijan–U.S. relations have entered a qualitatively new phase. It was noted that the Joint Declaration signed on 8 August this year in Washington by the leaders of Azerbaijan, the United States, and Armenia represents a historic turning point in the peace process, and will play a significant role in strengthening interreligious harmony, tolerance, and coexistence.
Chairman Mammadov stressed that fostering a tolerant environment in Azerbaijan is a priority of state policy grounded in the preservation of national and spiritual values while ensuring that people of different religions can live together peacefully. He highlighted that, under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, has established a model society based on principles of religious tolerance, multiculturalism, and mutual respect. He further emphasized that the state provides comprehensive support for all religious communities, including Christian denominations, to operate freely and safely. As a notable example, the official registration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Azerbaijan serves as a notable example of the state’s commitment to interreligious tolerance and equality.
Chairman Mammadov underlined the importance of mutual contacts in advancing Azerbaijan–U.S. relations and extended an invitation to the Senate President to visit Azerbaijan. Stuart Adams accepted the invitation with gratitude, emphasizing the importance of expanding cooperation and expressing admiration for the country’s multicultural values and interreligious harmony. He acknowledged President Ilham Aliyev’s contributions to maintaining an environment of tolerance and interfaith solidarity, and praised Azerbaijan’s policies promoting religious tolerance and cultural diversity.
