Delegation of the State Committee Visited Churches and Monasteries in Romania

A delegation led by Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, visited several places of worship in Romania.

On March 2, the delegation members toured the Sinaia Monastery of the Romanian Orthodox Church in the city of Sinaia, the “Holy Cross” Caraiman Monastery in the city of Busteni, as well as the “Black Church”, which belongs to the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in the city of Brasov.

During the visits, the Azerbaijani delegation received detailed information about the activities of religious communities in Romania and the historical background of the churches and monasteries.

While visiting these sites, Chairman Mammadov briefed the leaders of the religious communities on the conditions in Azerbaijan that ensure freedom of religion, the country’s successful model of state–religion relations, and Azerbaijan’s international initiatives aimed at promoting interfaith dialogue and interconfessional understanding. He noted that there are broad opportunities for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Romania in religious affairs and the promotion of multicultural traditions, as in other fields.
