Religious cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan discussed

Within the framework of his visit to Uzbekistan, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, met on April 30 with Ruslanbek Davletov, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Sodik Toshboyev, Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs; and Sheikh Nuriddin Kholiqnazar, Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan and Mufti.

During the meeting, the significance of the close friendship between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan was emphasized, highlighting the successful development of multifaceted relations across all spheres between the two brotherly countries. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in the field of religion and the importance of exchanging experiences in this area.

Chairman Mammadov spoke about the religious landscape in Azerbaijan, noting that the country’s state-religion model is grounded in a strong state, civic identity, national and moral values, and the traditions of multiculturalism. He emphasized that the foundation of this model was laid by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and further refined through the policies of President Ilham Aliyev.

He added that the state pays consistent attention to religion, creating favorable conditions for the activities of all religious communities without distinction. The Chairman also informed the participants about Azerbaijan’s initiatives that unite followers of all religions, call for Islamic solidarity, and promote interfaith unity.

Ruslanbek Davletov, Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan, stated that maintaining tolerance, preserving Islamic heritage, and passing it on to future generations are key priorities of the country’s state policy, noting that both countries share the similar perspective on these matters.

Sodik Toshboyev, Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs of Uzbekistan, underscored that multicultural values and tolerant environment of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan provide a strong foundation for enhancing intercultural dialogue. He considered the development of friendship between the two countries as a significant contribution to promoting and strengthening Islamic solidarity.

Sheikh Nuriddin Kholiqnazar, Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, spoke on the importance of preserving our spiritual unity and developing religious and moral ties.
