The Chairman of the State Committee met with the General Secretary of the Council of Muslim Elders
On July 31, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, met with the General Secretary of the Council of Muslim Elders, Muhammad Abdulsalam.
At the meeting, Chairman of the State Committee spoke about the importance Azerbaijan attaches to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation relations with the Islamic world in all fields, as well as the strengthening of Islamic solidarity. He emphasized that our country contributes to the promotion of Islamic values and culture on an international scale.
R. Mammadov also touched on the importance of the experience gained by the Council of Muslim Elders, which acted as the main organizer in the Interreligious pavilion organized for the first time at COP28 with the relevant decision of the UN, as well as held the summit of religious leaders together with the Vatican. He discussed with the guest the preparations for holding the summit of religious leaders within the framework of the COP29 conference, which will be hosted by Azerbaijan this year.
The General Secretary of the Council of Muslim Elders, Muhammad Abdulsalam, evaluated the example set by Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev towards the realization of inter-religious dialogue in the Islamic world as a successful example. At the same time, he stressed that he hopes that the summit, which will be held in cooperation with our country within the framework of COP29, will contribute to interreligious dialogue.
It should be noted that the General Director of the Council, Talal Al Mazrui, and other heads of structural divisions also participated in the meeting.
