Meeting was held with the Ambassador of Iran at the State Committee

On September 8, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, met with Mojtaba Damirchilu, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan.

The Chairman highlighted that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran, bilateral relations between the two countries continue to deepen, fostering positive dynamics for cooperation across all sectors.

During the meeting, detailed information was provided about the religious tolerance and multicultural environment in Azerbaijan, as well as the conditions established for the free and secure functioning of various religious communities. Ramin Mammadov emphasized that the State ensures equal conditions for all religious communities in Azerbaijan and provides comprehensive support to all confessions. He noted that state policy regarding religion is reflected in the renovation, restoration, and construction of places of worship, along with financial support to religious communities.

Ambassador Mojtaba Damirchilu stressed the importance of strengthening friendship, neighborhood, and brotherhood relations between the two countries. He discussed the significance of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Azerbaijan and his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, noting the new opportunities for the development of bilateral cooperation in the religious and cultural spheres.

Other matters of mutual interest, including cooperation in the field of religious education, were also discussed during the meeting.
