The Baku Global Summit of Religious Leaders has finished
On November 6, the Global Summit of Religious Leaders held in Baku under the slogan "World Religions for a Green Planet" under the joint organization of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, the International Council of Muslim Elders, the Office of Caucasian Muslims and the UN Environment Program within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), has finished its work.
At the closing ceremony of the event, the leaders of the organizing institutions - Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations Ramin Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Karimov, founder of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Coalition of Faith for the Earth and Director Iyad Abu Moghli, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Elders Muhammad Abdulsalam expressed their confidence that the Global summit will achieve the set goals.
The Baku Declaration was adopted by the participants of the summit. The document highlighted the importance of accelerating joint efforts to address the causes of global climate change, biodiversity loss, desertification, drought, land degradation, forest fires, environmental pollution, food security and water scarcity, and to create and improve healthy ecosystems.
The participants of the Baku Global Summit of world religious leaders addressed a letter of thanks to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. In the letter, the patronage and special attention of the President of Azerbaijan to the Baku Global Summit of religious leaders was evaluated as the greatest value given to the event. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was thanked for his patronage of the Global Summit of Religious Leaders within the framework of COP29, his special attention and his profound address to the address of the event, and he wished success in the work of COP29. Expressing their support for Azerbaijan's decisive position in the direction of human brotherhood, against racial and religious intolerance, and xenophobia, the religious leaders noted that thanks to the political will of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan is the traditional address of many internationally important events and prestigious summits on dialogue and cooperation between religions, cultures, and civilizations.
The appeals of the summit participants to the states, international, regional, religious, public organizations and religious leaders, as well as the world religious leaders to the COP29 participants, were accepted.
It should be noted that the participants of the Baku Global Summit of Religious Leaders are scheduled to visit our lands freed from occupation on November 7.
